3054 Carroll Street

Address: 3054 Carroll Street
Built: 1913-1914
Householder: Frederick A. Jones, salesman

This residence features an inset porch with chamfered posts and symmetrical box bays. There is a hipped dormer on the front and gable dormers on the side of the house. Alterations to the attic level of the building were made in the 1990s, when a rear dormer and new cross dormers were built.

Building permit records for this structure are ambiguous, but the house was probably constructed in late1913 and early 1914. A permit was issued on 23 December 1913 to H. J. Watson for a 1 ½ storey frame dwelling, with six rooms, at a cost of $2,700. Watson was a carpenter and may have worked on this place. A plumbing permit for the property was issued in January 1915 to Frederick A. Jones. He was a salesman for Simon Leiser & Company, wholesale grocers, at 524 Yates Street.

With adjacent residences at 3050 Carroll Street and 3040 Carroll Street, this house makes a handsome troika of heritage homes.
