This building is gone! It was demolished in 2015, about 3 years after this photograph was taken. In its last years, this residence had an unsavoury reputation; it was run-down before it was gutted by a fire. But here is a description of the building as it was in 2012, for the record:

This modest cottage has a hipped roof and a corbelled brick chimney.

In 1912 this was the home of 66 year old Robert Carter. Born in Ontario, he was retired. He may have been related to Charles R. Carter, who lived next door at 580 John Street.
