1912 householder: Mary Winona Davidson, widowConstruction of this Edwardian Arts & Crafts vernacular residence commenced in December 1907 and the house was completed in early 1908. The 1 ½ storey, seven room dwelling was built at a substantial cost of $3,500. This house has a prominent front gable, cross dormer gables and a recessed upper front balcony. On the main level, we see a recessed verandah and front and side octagonal bays. The front facing steps rest on moulded concrete blocks.
This large house was built for Mary Winona Davidson, widow of Hamilton C. Davidson. She lived here with a companion until her death on 28 December 1918. She was only 34 years old when she died. Her obituary was printed in the Victoria Daily TImes on 30 December 1918.
