3091 Albany Street

Address: 3091 Albany Street
Built: c. 1912
Householders: John W. Robertson, carpenter; Edward H. Blackmore and Harold T. Blackmore, clerks

This address appears for the first time in the 1913 Victoria City Directory, so a residence built in 1912 probably stood on this property. John W. Robertson, who may have been a carpenter, was listed as the householder in that directory. The following year, the directory indicates that Edward H. Blackmore, a clerk in the Post Office, and Harold T. Blackmore, a clerk in the Parliament Buildings, lived at this address.

But is this the original house? Records compiled by the Victoria Heritage Foundation, based on the City of Victoria's building permits register, indicate that this dwelling was originally situated at 3160 Douglas Street and was moved to this location in 1943 by the Wartime Housing Ltd. More research on this small, hipped roof bungalow is required.
